Apparatus for the dissociation of nitrogen oxides in exhaust gas from combustion engines

Apparatus for dissociating exhaust gas from an internal combustion engine containing oxides of nitrogen is claimed, in which the gas is passed into a discharge zone between two electrodes within which electrons are generated. The discharge zone includes a ceramic body (1) that has 2 channels (16) through it parallel to one another, open at both ends through which the exhaust gas passes. The electric field for the whole ceramic unit including channels and dividing walls is between 15 and 50 kV/cm.
