Solvent removal from suspended polymer solution droplets

The present invention is a method of making polymeric particles having a predetermined and controlled size and size distribution. The method includes the steps of dissolving a polymer in a solvent, and forming a suspension of small droplets of solvent having dissolved polymer in water containing a water-insoluble particulate stabilizer having a size of less than 100 nm. The suspension is vacuum boiled at a pressure of less than 500 mm Hg to remove the solvent from the droplets.
