<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a printer in which printing can be carried out in the regular print area of a medium even when the medium is skewed. SOLUTION: The number of print elements in a print head 3 is set such that the print elements project from the opposite ends of print area of a medium. The end part of a medium being carried is detected by sensors 6a, 6b and detection time difference of the medium is detected at a time difference detection section 9 based on the outputs from the sensors. Subsequently, movement of the medium corresponding to the time difference is detected at a movement detecting section 10 based on an output signal from a reading sensor 8 and a control section 11 determines the inclining direction and angle of a skewed medium based on the outputs from both detecting section 9, 10. The number. of print lines for the print area of the medium is classified depending on the inclining direction and angle of the skewed medium and the print elements to be used is shifted every time when the classified number of print lines are printed thus performing printing in the print area of the medium.</p> |
