1528628 1,3- and 1,4-bis(aminomethyl)cyclohexane SUN VENTURES Inc 28 Oct 1975 [13 Nov 1974] 44341/75 Heading C2C 1,3- or 1,4-bis(aminomethyl)cyclohexane is prepared by hydrogenating a solution of iso- or tere-phthalonitrile in an inert organic solvent having a solubility parameter of from 9 to 12 at from 50 to 150‹ C. and 500 to 2000 p.s.i.g. in the presence of a supported rhodium catalyst. Preferred solvents are saturated aliphatic ethers and alcohols such as tetrahydrofuran, dimethyldiethylene glycol, dioxane, 2-ethylhexanol, and n-butanol. The reaction solution may also contain 10 to 25% by volume of anhydrous ammonia. |
