PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new compound scarcely causing discoloration over time, having high concentration of an isocyanate group in a constant weight, and useful as a raw material for a microcapsule usable in fields such as a pressure sensitive recording material, a heat sensitive recording material and a medicine. SOLUTION: This new polyvalent isocyanate compound is a compound of formula I [R, R' and R'' are each H, an alkyl, an aryl, an aralkyl, an alkenyl, an alkynyl, an alkoxy or the like; (p) is 1-3; (q) is 3-6; (r), (s) and (t) are each 0 or 1 regulated so that (q)+(r)+(s)+(t) may be 6; with the proviso that a compound in which (q) is 3 and the whole of R to R'' are each H and occupy the 2-, 4- and 6-positions, a compound in which (q) is 3 and the whole R to R'' are each H and occupy 3-, 5- and 6-positions, and a compound in which the whole of R to R'' are each methyl and occupy 2-, 4- and 6-positions, are omitted], for example, 1,2,4-trisbromomethyl-3,5,6-trimethylbenzene. The compound of formula I is obtained, for example, by a method, etc., for reacting a metal salt of cyanic acid with a compound of formula II to produce a compound of formula III. |
