<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the deterioration of safety by high pressure unfolding by a malfunction by judging low pressure unfolding and high pressure unfolding in a proper period and order according to a traveling condition of a vehicle. SOLUTION: An air bag is constituted so as to be unfolded under low pressure or unfolded under high pressure, and low pressure and high pressure unfolding threshold values according to the existence of wear of a seat belt are preset, and when a vehicle speed Vc at colliding time is less than a prescribed vehicle speed VO and a speed is not reduced at colliding time, low pressure unfolding is judged (S11) in a first phase, and high pressure unfolding is judged (S14) in a second phase after the first phase. When the vehicle speed Vc is not less than a prescribed vehicle speed VO, or when a speed is reduced at colliding time, low pressure unfolding is judged (S16) in the first phase, and almost simultaneously high pressure unfolding is judged (S18). A starting period of the second phase is corrected so as to become large as the vehicle speed Vc at colliding time reduces.</p> |
