PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an oil-base dispersion of a water-absorbent resin improved in dispersion stability by mixing and dispersing a surfactant, a powdery water- absorbent resin, a fine silica powder, and an org. bentonite in a petroleum hydrocarbon. SOLUTION: This dispersion is prepd. by mixing and dispersing 0.1-5 wt.% surfactant (e.g. a nonionic surfactant), a powdery water-absorbent resin having an average particle size of 20-1,000μm in a wt. ratio to the below-mentioned reversed-phase emulsion of (50/50)-(95/5), a fine silica powder having an average particle size of 0.1-20μm in an amt. of 0.5-10 wt.% of the water-absorbent resin, and an org. bentonite in an amt. of 1-20 wt.% of the water-absorbent resin in a reversed-phase acrylic emulsion prepd. by using a petroleum hydrocarbon. Examples of the resin are a crosslinked polyacrylic acid (salt) and a crosslinked polyoxyethylene. This dispersion is prepd. by mixing and dispersing a compsn. comprising the resin, the silica powder, and the betonite in a dispersion medium prepd. by adding the surfactant to the reversed-phase emulsion. |
