PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a carbon-fiber reinforced ceramic composite material raised in mechanical strength of the composite material by carrying out the antioxidizing treatment of each carbon fiber as a reinforcing material. SOLUTION: This carbon-fiber reinforced ceramic composite material comprises each carbon fiber 3 having a central part, consisting essentially of carbon and comprising at least one of phosphorus and an alkaline earth metallic element bound to a part of carbon atoms in the carbon elements and a surface layer 4 consisting essentially of at least one phosphate of a rare earth element. The composite material is obtained by arranging the carbon fiber 3 in the interior of a ceramic substrate 2 such as silicon nitride and then baking the resultant formed compact.
