PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate substantially the possibility of the touching of a user to a recording head even when the user opens a front cover during recording and permit the continuation of recording successively when the user closes the front cover after calculating nothing. SOLUTION: An ink jet recording device is provided with an opening and closing detecting means 12 for a front cover and a time calculating means 14, operating a time necessary for the movement of a carriage to the position of a cap after opening the front cover. When it is impossible to move the carriage to the position of the cap within a period of time wherein the user can touch with the carriage, the carriage is moved to the position of the cap while alarming it. |
