PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink jet recording paper of a high image quality wherein an ink absorbing capacity is increased without unnecessarily increasing the film thickness of an ink absorbing layer, the cost is low, and also, wrinkles are not generated on an image part after a recording, an impression of a photograph can be obtained, and an image quality is not reduced due to a handling before or after a recording. SOLUTION: For this ink jet recording paper, on a water absorbent supporting body, a gap layer having 5-30 μm of a dry film thickness containing fine particles of which the average particle diameter is 100 nm or less, is provided as an ink absorbing layer, and for such an ink jet recording paper, as stiffness values in the longitudinal and lateral directions which are specified by JIS P8143, a smaller value is 100 cm<3> /100 or higher, and a larger value is 400 cm<3> /100 or less, and also, the thickness is 160-300 μm. |
