PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a correcting method for a machining error and a machining method therewith, which is capable of machining a work whose desired machining surface can be expressed by an arbitrary function, with high precision. SOLUTION: A displacement amountΔrt',ΔZt' due to rotation is obtained by means of FEM analysis (S101), the displacement amount (α,β) at arbirary areas are measured by an outer periphery sensor and an end surface sensor (S103), the ratio of an analyzed value to a measured value (α/Δrt',β/ΔZt') is calculated (S105), and based on the ratio, the calculated values (Δrn",ΔZn") at any area other than the measured arbitrary area are obtained (S107). The correction function g (r) whose error amount dn is kept within its allowable range is obtained, and Z=f(r)+g(r), whose function f(r) at a desired machining surface is corrected by the correction function, is a function to be inputted in an automatic programing device.
