PURPOSE:To obtain the electronic musical instrument where timbre can be edited without using any expensive floppy disk drive, etc., by reading a timbre editing program out of the sound source pack connected to the electronic musical instrument and editing the timbre of the sound source of the sound source pack according to the read-in timbre editing program. CONSTITUTION:A CPU 22 indicates sound generation or sound elimination to the side of the sound source pack 30 through an I/O port 25 according to performance information obtained by keying operation on a keyboard 21-1. Then the timbre editing program for timbre editing is transmitted and received between the electronic musical instrument 20 and sound source pack 30. Therefore, the timbre editing program for the sound source part 34 is obtained, so the operation key 21-2 of the console part 21 of the electronic musical instrument 20 is operated properly to edit the timbre of the musical tone of the sound source part 34 of the sound source pack according to the timbre editing program written in a RAM 24. Consequently, the electronic musical instrument which enables the editing of the timbre is formed without any expensive floppy disk drive, etc. |
