The invention concerns a smart card (2) reader (1) equipped with an end of travel sensor (3), for sensing the presence of a smart card inserted in the reader, and a lock (4) to prevent the card from being extracted once it has been inserted. The invention is characterised in that a signal (8) delivered by the lock and a signal (7) delivered by the presence sensing device are processed (8) simultaneously to authorise the reader to operate even if only one of said signals is present, in particular if the presence sensing device seems not to indicate the presence of a smart card any more. |
