Clip for securing shaft in differential

A simple construction for a differential has the bevel gears supported on a shaft (4) which is fitted into the differential housing via axial holes. Each end of the shaft is held axially by a shaped spring steel clip (5) which clips onto the outside of the housing and which has a central profile to press onto the end of the shaft. The clip can be made of flat strip steel or of steel wire. Spacer washers threaded onto the shaft provide the bearing between the bevel gears and the differential housing.
