The electrical fitting has a cover (10) with a hinged lid (12) which covers the front of the fitting, which pivots on shaped bearing tongues (20) which latch onto journals (22) on the cover via slotted cut-outs and which is acted upon by a spring (28). The hinged lid has a crimped edge which rests in tight contact with the cover in the closed state. The bearing tongues formed on the lid are arranged inside the crimped edge
