Portable electronic device comprises a case housing a liquid crystal cell (3), a circuit board (12), and a battery holder (10). The case is made up of an upper cover (8a) having a display window, a lower cover (8b), and a frame (9). A connector having many signal terminals is joined to one edge of the circuit board (12), and the board (12) is put on the liquid crystal cell (3) in the case. The battery holder (10) is disposed by the side of the circuit board (12).
