Method of applying a line pattern on enamel layer of sheet metal

Line patterns are applied by means of at least one laser beam which is directed to the surface of the enamel layer (12) of the metal-covered board (11) to alter this surface in such a way that the line pattern optically differs from the rest of the surface. Independent claims are also included for a device for carrying out the method. The device includes a support table for the board (11), and a runner (17) which carries a laser unit (14) and is movable above the support table. The runner has a CNC-controlled running gear. The board has base structure for a sheet metal which is coated with an enamel layer provided with a line pattern.
