A protective circuit-breaker, in particular an automatic cut-out, includes a pair of contacts (12,15) comprising a fixed contact (12) and a moveable contact (15) on a contact carrier (16), which functions together with at least one release- (trip-) system (4,6) via a latching mechanism (8). An additional mechanical release system is provided for monitoring a contact burning, and is designed in the form of a connection element (20) between the movable contact carrier (16) and the latching mechanism (8).
