The system encompasses a main pipeline (20) and additional pipes (11) branching off from it. The main pipeline has a bulkhead (18) located in a section of its wall which is held in an open position under normal temperatures and which moves downward and closes off the cross section of the branching pipelines at higher temperatures. A plastics pipe (10) is provided which is inserted into a collar of the branching pipeline. The plastics pipe shrinks under increasing temperature so that the bulkhead moves to its closed position. The bulked is runs straight across the pipe wall of the main pipeline.
