<p>A recognizer for characters inclusive of those which are cursive, written each in an incorrect order, or variations. The recognizer comprises an input unit for inputting hand-written characters thereinto and producing a series of coordinate points, a dictionary for storing a plurality of character codes and character patterns corresponding to the character codes, an element decomposing unit for decomposing each character into constituent elements by the series of the coordinate points outputted from the input unit, and a matching unit which finds the distances between the elements of the inputted character pattern and the corresponding elements of the corresponding character pattern stored in the dictionary, and corrects the distances found based on the elements that are not corresponding.</p> |
