Noise reduction generated by gear teeth for a hybrid IC engine

The noise reduction system has a detector (180) to detect a state that might generate gear noise and a controller (170) to control the speed of rotation of the internal combustion engine (150). The speed difference between the electric motor/generator (110) and the IC engine is measured to determine whether there is the risk that gear noise may be generated. The controller then adjusts the engine speed.
