The method involves coupling a sequence of timewise equidistant input light pulses (21) produced by a pulse laser, in such way into an external resonator device (1), free of an amplification medium, with at least two resonator mirrors (11-14) defining a light path (10) with a predetermined resonator length, that the coupled input light pulses are linearly and successively superimposed in the resonator to at least one circulating light pulse. The method involves coupling a sequence of timewise equidistant input light pulses (21) produced by a pulse laser, in such way into an external resonator device (1), free of an amplification medium, with at least two resonator mirrors (11-14) defining a light path (10) with a predetermined resonator length, that the coupled input light pulses are linearly and successively superimposed in the resonator to at least one circulating light pulse. A decoupling of the circulating light pulse from the resonator, as output light pulse (31) results over a modulator element (15), with which the at least one output light pulse is directed out of the resonator, after it has reached a predetermined minimum energy. An Independent claim is included for a corresponding amplification arrangement.
