A double telescopic pneumatic damper has the outer damping cylinder (4) fitted with a hollow piston shaft (8) which forms the cylinder of an inner pneumatic damper, with a separate piston shaft (50) and an inner piston (51). The piston (9) of the outer damping cylinder forms the end stop of the inner cylinder. The two dampers have separate gas springs whose relative pressures are inversely proportional to the relative cross-sectional areas of the two pistons. The effective combined operating stroke of the two pistons is greater than the compressed length of the two dampers.
