<p>An image display having a light source, a combination lens, an integrater, and a light bulb, wherein an area of an irradiating region of the light source is set not more than (LLV1xυLV1/NALED)x(LLV2xυLV2/NALED), wherein υLV1 equals a maximum value in the direction of a shorter side of the light bulb of an angle between the light applied to the light bulb and an optical axis; υLV2 a maximum value in the direction of a longer side of the light bulb of the same angle; LLV1 a length of the light bulb in the direction of the shorter side thereof; LLV2 a length of the light bulb in the direction of the longer side thereof; and NALED effective numerical apertures of the combination lens, this enabling the outgoing light from the light source to be homogenized, and an irradiation efficiency with respect to the light bulb to be improved, when light is applied to the light.</p> |
