Container bridging system used in docks

The bridging system comprises a gantry crane set up on the quayside. A walk platform (52) is attached to the water-side support structure (10) of the crane above the quayside and has at least one bearing support face for at least one container mounted above the platform. The bearing face is designed so that the corner fitments of the container are freely accessible from underneath. Between the platform and the boom, second track rails (42,44) are provided for a second crab (46) running parallel to first track rails (28,30) so that containers can be moved from the platform to the quayside or from the quayside to the platform. The distance between the second track rails is greater than the length of the longest container.
