Process for recovery and conversion of electrical cables formed from metal, which consists in: storing the said cables and classifying them by size. Submitting the cable to cleaning, preferably by immersion or washing with cold and/or hot water for approximately one hour, then carrying out a drying operation in the open air for one day. Cutting of the cable by means of shears in two sections of approximately 30 cm. The sections of cable are ground in various phases in hammer mills which turn at at least 20 rpm, a final product being obtained with an average particle size of at least 1 mm3. After grinding is finished, the product is subjected to a phase of separation of the constituent materials of the cable, separation being carried out by gravity in relation to the specific weights of the materials, a lateral air flow playing a part in this separation, entraining the material of lesser density. Once the constituent materials of the cable have been separated, each of them is shaped into slabs or blocks by means of a press at at least 10 kg/cm2, except the metallic part which is cast in the form of granules or blocks. <IMAGE>
