Modular base station arrangement

A base station transceiver is divided into two units, a radio unit comprising a transceiver radio frequency front end module and a main unit. The radio unit is located near to the antennas to minimise power loss in the interconnecting cables. The radio unit may comprise a first receiving unit 110.2 which is coupled to a receiving filter of a second receiving unit 110.3 and the second receiving unit being connected to a receiving filter of the first receiving unit. The arrangement may be applied to macro and micro base stations and be used for diversity reception.
