Apparatus and method for taking into account the execution of a task on a computer system

The monitoring commences with determination of resources available in virtual memory, real memory, temporary file space and central processor usage. The total of pre-allocated resources and queued requests is computed. The required resources and the available resources reduced by the total of pre-allocated resources are compared, to decide whether resources are available to allow a new process to be launched, or whether the launch should be refused.
