ELECTRON GUN STRUCTURE

There is provided an electron gun assembly capable of improving the withstand voltage characteristics without affecting the electric field of an auxiliary lens 156 and having a simple structure. The position in which a support 122 included in a second grid 112 of the electron gun assembly is planted in bead glass is located on the side of a third grid 113 with respect to a thick flat plate 121 having electron beam passing holes. An electrode 123 of the third grid 113 located on the second grid side is formed so as to take the shape of a cup. A bottom face 140 of the electrode 123 takes the shape of substantially a rectangle, and has a width in the vertical direction smaller than the width of an opening portion located on a forth grid side. Side walls 142 joined to longer sides of the bottom face 140 are inclined over a range from the second grid side to the fourth grid side. <IMAGE>
