PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrode superior in a cycle characteristic by passing a composition containing a hydrogen storage alloy between multiple rolls having different revolving speeds, so as to dispersedly knead the hydrogen storage alloy in a paste. SOLUTION: When a binder, a thickener, and a conductive material are mixed to a paste 3, an electrode having superior characteristic can be preferably manufactured. When the paste 3 is passed several times between three rolls having different revolving speeds, alloy grains are dispersed uniformly, the coating property of the surface is improved, and the viscosity of the paste 3 is reduced. The paste 3 having a viscosity of about 4/5 or below of the initial viscosity by this method is used for manufacturing a negative electrode hydrogen storage alloy electrode for a nickel-hydrogen storage battery, thereby the cycle characteristic is improved. The paste 3 is filled into coating heads 2a, 2b and is applied to a punching metal core material 1, while being applied with vibration by vibration exciters 5a, 5b. The viscosity of the paste 3 is reduced by the vibration of the coating heads 2a, 2b and a uniform coating is applied. The vibration frequency is preferably set to 1-300 Hz. |
