PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To save copying paper in an office by calculating the total necessary number of copies in a copying machine, displaying a recommendable copying mode on a display part when the calculated number exceeds a specified threshold and consciously increasing the frequency in use of a copying mode by which the number of sheets of paper to be used can be reduced. SOLUTION: Whether or not a document exists on an ADF is detected(S11). When the document exists, the stacking height of the document on the ADF is detected to roughly estimate the number of documents n1 (S12). Next, the total number of copies N=n1 ×n2 is calculated (S14) from the copying entry n2 inputted by a user (S13). When N is equal to or under the set specified threshold NT(S15), 'copying OK' is immediately displayed (S17). When N exceeds the threshold NT (S15), the specified 'recommendable mode' is displayed on the liquid crystal display part (S16) and also 'copying OK' is displayed when the user designates any of the display modes (S17). |
