PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a superconducting conductor having high mechanical strength, while maintaining reduced weight and reduced size and having thermal and electrical stability. SOLUTION: A Cu/Nb-Ti supreconducting element wire 2 is prepared, such that a composite billet is formed by packing a plurality of copper matrix Nb-Ti superconducting wires into a tube made of oxygen-free copper and then extruded by hydrostatic pressure extrusion, and that aging heat treatment and drawing are repeated three times. Next, a superconducting strand 8 is produced by stranding the Cu/Nb-Ti superconducting element wires 2. An aluminum-stabilized superconducting conductor 10 is manufactured, such that the superconducting strand 8 is coated with an aluminum alloy 6 having a content to 20 to 100 ppm of Cu and Mg added thereto by hot extrusion and that it is cold-worked by 0 to 30%. |
