Process for the preparation of acrylonitrile copolymers with at least one (di)olefin which comprises reacting the monomers in the presence of a catalytic system essentially consisting of: i) a complex of zirconium having the general formula:ZrAaBb(I)wherein A represents a cyclopentadienyl, indenyl or fluorenyl group, B represents a hydrogen atom, a halogen or a C1-C8 (iso)alkyl, alkoxyl or carboxyl radical; ii) an aluminumalkyl halide having the general formula:AlRnXm(II)wherein R represents a C1-C4 (iso)alkyl group, X is a halogen.
