PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently generate a density conversion table used to convert an original image into a desired output image with high accuracy. SOLUTION: At first a learning original image is received (S301) and converted by a reference density conversion table and the result is displayed (S302). When the image is not a desired image (S303), the image is converted an displayed, while the reference density conversion table is gradually revised (S304, S305). When a desired image is displayed, a histogram of the original image is generated, its characteristic value is extracted, and a revision amount (coefficient) at that time is detected. Then a function that receives an extracted characteristic amount and provides an output of the revised amount is obtained beforehand. Then the characteristic amount of the original image whose density is to be converted is extracted, and the function receiving the amount is used to calculate a revision amount, and the reference density conversion table is revised by the calculated revision amount to generate the reference density conversion table with respect to the original image. |
