PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical pickup capable of monitoring the intensity of laser beam without using a beam splitter and then without attenuating main laser beam made incident on an objective lens. SOLUTION: This pickup is provided with a laser beam emitting element 1, a diffraction grating 2 arranged at the front side of the optical axis of the element 1 and for making a laser beam passing through its central part incident on an objective lens and a holder 7 supporting the diffraction grating 2. In this case, the holder 7 is formed with a light transmissive material and a through hole is provided at the center part 72 of the holder 7 to form the path of a main laser beam B1 to be made incident of the objective lens, and the peripheral part 73 of the holder 72 is remained as a light leakaging part for making the laser beam for monitor B2 incident on a front monitoring element 6. |
