PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a battery maintaining a high capacity over long-term charge/discharge cycles and having a high utilization factor of an active material in a high-rate discharge by using an electrode coated with one or two or more kinds of conductive metals on the surface and containing γ-oxynickel hydroxide powder. SOLUTION: An electrode is porously coated with a conductive metal at the average coating thickness of 1 μm or below. The conductive metal has the conductivity equal to or higher than that of nickel, it is preferably at least one kind selected from among silver, copper, or alloys of these metals, and γ-oxynickel hydroxide powder is alkali-treated before the coating of the conductive metal. One or two or more kinds of conductive metals are preferably applied to the surface of the electrode containing γ-oxynickel hydroxide powder. The conductive metals are porously applied at the average coating thickness of 1 μm or below. |
