HYBRID DISK AND DISK DISCRIMINATING METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hybrid disk and a disk discriminating method recognizing the hybrid disk correctly without damaging a recordable CD. SOLUTION: A method for discriminating the hybrid disk of a DVD reproducer on whose specified recording area identification information expressing the type of a disk is recorded is constituted of a step irradiating the optical disk 10 mounted on the DVD reproducer with a CD laser beam, a step checking whether identification information is recorded in the specified recording area or not when data are read out from the optical disk 10 and a step recognizing the disk 10 as the hybrid disk when the identification information are recorded in the specified recording area.
