A lid portion (200) is attached to a base portion (300) by means of tongues (204) which are non-removably inserted into apertures (304) disposed around the sidewall of the base portion (300). A tear-away strip (220) connects the tongues (204) to a central part (202) of the lid portion (200) and may be used to permit the central part (202) to be detached from the base portion (300). The fact that operation of the tear-away strip (220) leaves the tongues (204) in the apertures and the lid portion (200) in several parts means that the container cannot be reused. This prevents counterfeiters from packaging counterfeit articles in genuine packing previously used for a genuine article.
