摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To give an adequate quantity of charging to a lead battery regardless of the states before charging by correcting the quantity of charging electricity by first stage charging by using a battery cell temperature during first stage charging and then controlling the second stage charging time based on the corrected quantity of charging electricity. SOLUTION: If a constant current value for first stage charging is 0.2 CA, a constant current value for second stage charging is 0.05 CA, and terminal voltage at Tb deg.C during charging for switching from the first stage to second stage is 2.4+(25-Tb)×0.005}V/cell, then the lead battery can be charged in conformity with the equation. In the equation, the charging time t2 required for constant current charging in the second stage can be calculated by subtracting the first stage quantity of charging electricity multiplying first stage charging current I1 by the time t1 from charging start to reaching switching detection voltage and then dividing the result by the second stage constant current value I2 . A value in the range of 1.05 to 1.25 should be used for the charging efficiency coefficient Ce.
