PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a coordinate reader, an interface device of the coordinate reader, and a coordinate reading system capable of varying the power to discriminate a switch of a coordinate indicator to be turned on by every plural areas provided on a tablet. SOLUTION: The plural areas are displayed on the tablet 2. When the coordinate indicator 3 is placed on the tablet 2 and an exciting signal s1 is supplied to an exciting line DL*, the exciting signal s1 is guided to a sense line SL* by a guide signal s2 to be varied according to writing pressure applied to the coordinate indicator 3. The coordinate value is calculated based on the guide signal s2 by a coordinate calculation circuit 23. The areas are discriminated based on the calculated coordinate value by an area discrimination circuit 24. On/off status is discriminated by comparing writing pressure information to be obtained from the guide signal s2 with threshold values set by every discriminated area by a status discrimination circuit 25.
