PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To decrease the cost by reducing the number of AC power sources with respect to an electric field curtain device for applying AC voltages to three kinds or more of electrode groups, for carrying powder such as toner and to obtain an excellent image by suppressing the occurrence of irregularities in a formed image with respect to a developing device using the electric field curtain device. SOLUTION: In the electric field curtain device in which n (n>=3) kinds of electrode groups 22a-22c are repeatedly provided in order, the AC voltages having the same amplitude, the same frequency and phases sequentially shifted by π/n are applied to the first - (n-1)th electrode groups except the (n)th electrode group 22c respectively, so that the toner is carried to a developing region facing an image carrier 1, to attain development by the electric field curtain device. In such a case, an electrode in the (n)th electrode group is provided so as to face the image carrier in the developing region. |
