A method and system for manufacturing and editing masters for information carriers such as compact discs (CD) and digital versatile discs (DVD) comprises the use of a focused energy beam to add or remove material from the surface of a substrate to create or remove information structures. In one embodiment, material to be deposited is carried by the focused energy beam and in another, material to be deposited is obtained from a precursor gas which is energized by the focused energy beam to deposit the material. |
