PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a polyethylene compsn. improved in resistance to hydrostatic pressure (i.e., creep resistance) by compounding polyethylene having a specified standard density with talc. SOLUTION: A polyethylene compsn. having a standard density (at 230 deg.C, according to ASTM D792) of 940 kg/m<3> or higher, pref. 945-970 kg/m<3> , still pref. 947-965 kg/m<3> , and a melt flow index (at 190 deg.C, under a load of 5 kg, according to ISO 1133-1991) of 0.07 g/10 min or higher, pref. 0.1-5 g/10 min, is obtd. by compounding 100 pts.wt. polyethylene which comprises ethylene units and 0.01-10 mol.%, pref. 0.05-5 mol.%, units derived from at least one 4-18C comonomer and has a standard density of 943-960 kg/m<3> , pref. 946-955 kg/m<3> , and a melt flow index of 0.07 g/10 min or higher, pref. 0.1 g/10 min or higher, with 0.05-2.5 pts.wt., pref. 0.5-2 pts.wt., still pref. 0.75-1.5 pts.wt., lamella-structured talc having a particle size distribution of 0.2-15μm and an average particle size of 1-5μm. |
