Cheese draining tray, used in making soft cheese

Moulds (6) without bases, are placed on draining mats (4) on the draining plates (3). Each plate has longitudinal troughs, the base of which (7) rests on the plate beneath when stacked. This also applies to troughs around the periphery of the plates. Whey collects in these troughs and is drained off (22). The outer wall (10) of the plates is shaped to give surfaces which allow easy handling of the trays using a fork lift truck or conveyor. An Independent claim is also included for the manufacture of the plate. A sheet of thermoplastic material is shaped in a heated mould, and drainage holes made in it by machining or drilling.
