A process for the production of 1,1,1,3,3-pentafluoropropane comprises reacting hydrogen fluoride with a compound (A) from 1,1,1,3,3-pentachloropropane (F240fa), a partially fluorinated derivative of F240fa, 1,1,3,3-tetrachloro-1-propene (F1230za) and 1,3,3,3-tetrachloro-1-propene (F1230zd) in the liquid phase. A titanium-based compound is used as a catalyst.
