PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce the subject foam having lowered thermal conductivity and good handleability, etc., and useful as an insulation material for composite element, etc., by adding graphite to an organic polyisocyanate, etc., and a compound having reactive hydrogen atom and reacting the mixture in the presence of a foaming agent, etc. SOLUTION: The objective foam useful for filling the hollow space of a refrigeration apparatus or a heating element is produced by reacting (A) an organic polyisocyanate and/or a modified organic polyisocyanate (e.g. diphenylmethane diisocyanate) with (B) one or more kinds of compounds having >=2 reactive hydrogen atoms (e.g. polyether polyol) in the presence of (C) a foaming agent, (D) a catalyst and optionally (E) an assistant and/or an additive. In the above reaction, preferably 1-10 wt.% (based on the whole foam) of graphite is added to the component A and/or B. Preferably, >=50% of the graphite has particle diameter of <20μm.
