PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a camera with a shake correcting function capable of reducing a detection error by a shake detection means. SOLUTION: This camera is provided with an averaging processing part 511d calculating an averaged shake amount at an intermediate time point from respective two continuous shake amounts as for the respective shake amounts in the lateral and longitudinal directions obtained by an image comparison arithmetic part 511c. By the effect of this averaging processing, the dispersion in detection of the shake detection part is rounded off. Thus, the predictive shake amount close to the more actual shake amount can be obtained by using the shake amount averaged by the processing part 511d rather than by using the shake amount obtained by the arithmetic part 511c.
