PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an immersion member for molten metal bath, excellent in resistance to corrosion and wear. SOLUTION: A surface layer film of 5-500μm thickness, having a composition consisting of one or >=2 kinds among tungsten carbide, titanium carbide, niobium carbide, and molybdenum carbide, one or >=2 compound borides among tungsten cobalt boride, molybdenum cobalt boride, and niobium cobalt boride, and inevitable impurities, is formed on the surface of the main body of the immersion member by thermal spraying. The surface layer film can be formed into ceramics or cermet with high adhesion, and an effect of excellent resistance to corrosion and wear can be produced.
