PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To measure photocatalysis activity of a photocatalyst specimen with high precision, sensitivity, and reproducibility by an organic pigment having its specific properties being adhered or adsorbed onto a photocatalyst activity face of a material, and then measuring a decomposing speed based on a photocatalyst action of the organic pigment. SOLUTION: An organic pigment is adhered or adsorbed onto a photocatalysis activity face of a photocatalysis activity material such as an anatase type titanium dioxide or the like. The organic pigment must meet conditions that it has light resistance itself, it must not be decomposed by irradiation of UV light of 300 to 380 nm in wavelength and 1 mW/cm<2> in light quantity within 30 minutes, it does not react with a photocatalyst activity face under dark condition, and a photocatalysis activity substance has less absorption of light within a wavelength area necessary to realize a photocatalyst action. The organic pigment is decomposed in a solvent such as water, prepares an organic pigment solution, and the activated material is immersed and treated for 1 to 3 hours in the solution. Thereafter, the activity material is taken out, a remaining pigment is removed and dried, and the photocatalyst activity material is obtained. For the purpose of pigment quantification, a wavelength of 580 nm is utilized as the maximum absorption wavelength. |
