PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a molding material having enhanced cost/performance by reducing a used amount of a silver-based anti-bacterial agent which is applicable to daily necessities such as lacquer ware, kitchen utensils, etc., and molded items which an unspecified number of the general public may touch, by mixing a phenolic resin containing a specific amount of a phenolic monomer and a dimer and a specific amount of silver-based anti-bacterial agent. SOLUTION: A molding material is obtained by mixing a phenolic resin comprising novolak type phenolic resin and/or a resole-type phenolic resin containing 3-10% in total of a phenolic monomer and a dimer, preferably 2-6% of a phenolic monomer with 0.1-1.0%, preferably 0.2-0.5%, relative to the total of the forming material, of a silver-based anti-bacterial agent having an average particle diameter of 1-100μm, more preferably 0.1-100μm. Silver is supported on an inorganic supporter such as silica, aluminum, zeolite and the like for use as the silver-based anti-bacterial agent.
